I have a love-love relationship with Pinterest. There are so many amazing things to be discovered there. The members of the Pinterest community are creative, thoughtful people who all have a common interest in searching for beautiful, fun, and interesting things.
Lately it seems I’m obsessed with DIY projects. Here are few that I have pinned or found on other bloggers’ sites that I enjoy and respect.
Take a gander and let me know if you see something you like. And let me know if you have any glamorous DIY projects that you’ve completed.
Mercury Glass Lamps (AKA: Lamps that look like Mercury Glass!)
First, spray the body of your plain glass lamp (or vase, knick knack – anything made out of glass can be transformed) with clean water. While the surface is wet, spray it thoroughly with Looking Glass spray paint. The water will prevent the paint from completely adhering to the surface – exactly what’s required to achieve the characteristically blotchy look of genuine mercury glass. Let the paint dry overnight, and repeat the process to the darkness of your liking. You can find out more about the process here: http://soc.li/qDV1m5M
Silver Leaf Dresser
This silver leaf dresser is amazing. How creative!!! With some time and attention to detail this is something any of us can do. The Little Green Notebook site by Jenna Komenda provides instructions for this – and many more – projects! These lovely, little, lacquer-like boxes come to us via Centsational Girl. I LOVE them and think they would look absolutely amazing on my dressing table. Here is the link to the instruction page: http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2012/01/diy-lacquer-lookalikes/
